It is no secret that I love pyjamas and I think it's about time I invested in some Peter Alexander goodness! It's beyond me why I haven't done this yet since I do spend a good portion of my day/night in clothes typically designed for sleeping. I have always been a fan of Peter Alexander nightwear but after stepping into the store three times in the past two weeks I have fallen in love - so it's settled. 

White & Gold Christmas

This year my Christmas theme is white and gold. Every year I choose a different theme and coordinate my wrapping and cards. Last year was purple and silver so I thought I would be a little more traditional this year. It may sound a bit odd but it's things like this that really get me into the Christmas spirit! Above are a couple of photos of the presents I have wrapped so far, unfortunately I did not have the best lighting.

How did Christmas sneak up so quickly this year? It's not my favourite holiday - mainly because in Australia Christmas usually falls on one of the hottest days of the year and it's no secret that my body just doesn't cope with anything over 30 degrees, plus it's just depressing when I spend so much time dressing up and within an hour or two not only is my make-up dripping down to my knees (a bit of an exaggeration?), but I also want climb into the freezer. But I do love being able to catch up with mine and Aaron's family which is what Christmas is all about for me.

Truth be told I have only bought around three Christmas presents and am now in a mad rush to get the rest, luckily as a student I am no stranger to deadlines and I like to think I work best under pressure - wishful thinking perhaps. Actually we haven't even put the Christmas tree up yet and we will probably only be getting around to it this weekend.

May Christmas be full of happiness, cheer, and wonderful memories this year.

My top five favourites for 2011

The year is nearing an end and what better way to celebrate the high points than with my top five favourite things 2011.

1.   1. Pinterest - This site is like a virtual pin up board where you can place pictures of the things you like. You can pin pictures from almost any website and it gives you and anyone else the link to the site which is good for two reasons - there is no issues with plagiarism, and the link takes you straight to all the relevant information. The site is invite only which means you need to request an invite from the creators OR you can get an invite from a friend already using Pinterest. You can create multiple boards for different categories and it is a wonderful resource if you are planning a birthday or wedding. You really just need to take a look to truly understand. WARNING - you will visit Pinterest just as much as you visit Facebook.  Link - www.pinterest.com

2. Amazon Kindle - I have always been very stubborn when it comes to technology replacing real books, however I have to admit that I have fallen in love with my Kindle (in the last week actually). So it doesn't have that heavenly old/new book smell or pages to wear and tag, but it is portable and you can buy a book anywhere at any time of the day or night. For anyone who likes to read on the go and doesn't want to carry a heavy book this gadget is for you. Another plus is that the Kindle prints each page with e-ink (look it up if you are interested) and therefore it is as easy on the eyes as a real book! Link - www.amazon.com/kindle

3. Adele - At a youthful age of just twenty one this amazing music artist has an old soul and a magnificent voice. Her songs give me a tingle up my spine and make my hair stand on end. She is one to watch for 2012 and I hope her music continues to move us into next year.  Link - http://www.adele.tv/

4. Strawberrynet - I only have praise for this online shopping site. You can find haircare, fragrances, skincare, and make-up from an astonishing number of brands for seriously cheap prices. Also, for everyone in Australia the shipping is free on everything except fragrances.  5. Typo - As a Uni student I am always looking for ways to brighten up my sometimes never ending days. Though I do not stray from the practical work books and diaries, I do like fun accessories. Typo offers a wonderful range of ' in vogue' office supplies and gift ideas.  My favourite purchases are my floral range of manila folders, magazine holders, and boxes. I also have a couple of accessories in a wonderful pastel blue with birds and filigree. I have to admit a lot of the products are a little too 'out there' for my taste, but it's always fun to find a diamond in the rough. Link – http://typoshop.com.au

Bobbi Brown Rose Shimmer Brick

Last week I received my second Bobbi Brown product in the mail, and I have to say I am always surprised and content with my purchase. The Rose Shimmer Brick can be used by itself or over another blush, and each of the colour strips can be used as individual eye shadows. I purchased the pack that came with the mini face brush, and I would strongly recommend doing this because Bobbi Brown brushes are to die for! I have a fairly small budget so I rarely buy products this expensive, but I do have a weakness for Bobbi! I should also note that I always buy pricey products on Strawberrynet.com when they are available due to the wonderful discounts and loyalty program.

Another Day, Another Exam

Today was my first exam of semester two, and the day started a little rocky. To start with I woke up with a borderline migraine, however luckily it settled down. Even after two weeks of studying I wasn't feeling too positive and ended up going to Uni three hours early to study in the cool and quiet library. Three hours flew by, and just before going to my exam I made a stop at the Uni pond. There I found a mother duck and her new ducklings! Oh wow, what a great moment, the ducklings came right up to me and pretty much sat on my feet. Luckily I had my new camera (early Christmas present from Aaron) and managed to take a couple of pictures of my day. 


Well, the exam went okay and I guess I won't know until I get my results. I feel like the questions were totally irrelevant and even with six months to study I wouldn't have studied the topics covered in the exam. Oh well - fingers crossed I manage to pass the unit.

First play date

About a month ago Domino, George, and Millie had their first ever play date. It was so adorable to watch the Guinea Pigs sniffing and crawling all over Domino. I was amazed at how gentle Domino was, and I should note we were holding her the whole time - to avoid any accidents. Domino had seen the Guinea Pigs before through the cage so maybe that is why they were so comfy with one another. Everyday Domino goes to the cage to say hello to her two friends, and I often catch Millie and Domino touching noses! Melts my heart to be honest.

Another year down.

Of course I am talking about my second year of Psychology. I can't believe I made it through this year, as I have not been very well and at times I honestly didn't think I would get the work done. But now I can say I have successfully finished the semester and am studying for exams. Next year will be the last year of my Bachelor degree, and I am hoping to get into Honours the year after. 

Next year I will be so busy, since I am doing five units full time each semester (four of which I will be studying on campus). It is completely daunting, but I know I need to have a 70% average to get into Honours, so hopefully that will be motivating enough to get through and push a little harder even when I feel like I have nothing to give. 

Here I come. 

Twenty One

This October I turned 21. 

I decided that I would throw a party for myself and close friends. I had to save  for a couple of months, but I ended up throwing a pretty decent party! 

I decorated the house in pink and purple decorations, got a friend to DJ, provided alcoholic slushies (from Caribbean Cocktails in head rush and fruit tingle), a rainbow of vodka jelly shots, pink champagne punch, and food. With the help of Aaron, Vanessa, and Mitch - we decorated and set up the party. I have to admit I have never been so excited for a party before, but it was an amazing night. I also have to mention that my nan came over two days before to help me clean the house - and several people mentioned how spotless everything was! Thanks Nan!

Mum and Dad bought me a pink princess cake, and Dad made a heartfelt and humorous speech from both Mum and himself (it was lovely). Aaron and Steph also made wonderful speeches. Due to my fear of public speaking (even in front of friends) I did not make a speech, and instead thanked everyone for coming. 

The music and atmosphere was great and I can honestly say everyone (myself included) had a great time! It was really strange to have the focus on me, because I rarely like being in the spotlight, and usually put others before myself - I guess I just feel more comfortable that way. However, I embraced the attention and I feel that I deserved it. It was also really nice to be surrounded by friends, and to know that I am as special to them as they are to me.
